Exhibition Summer Jewels

From July to late September, La Maison du Village in Saint-Rémy de Provence welcomes an original jewel exhibition from contemporary artists from diverse continents.

Common link to this collection: each jewel, necklace, bracelet, etc. seems to have been born in an imaginary tribe and lived a sort of fantastic epic, creating, at the same time, an esthetic memory out of time and out of norm and an aspect of play full of whim. The eyes are thus captured by the colored enchantment, the sophistication of the lines and the magic of this marvelous affectation. Each piece is unique, true work of art, and lights up the body with grace and magnificence.

We notably come across Christian Astuguevieille’s jewels who exceptionally lent himself to the task with this freedom of creation which pushes the limits off the possible. His oversized ornaments embody improbable treasures of fictitious tribes. We recognize here the humor of this sculptor-artist, his spontaneity in his choice of materials, his poetic and impudent generosity: enigmatic and tactile fineries which come to life through the movement of the shapes and the abundance of materials – beads, mother-of-pearl, Plexiglas, crystal, feathers…, thus producing a thrill threading it’s way through mockery, sacred, mystery, amazement!
